Tattoo Aftercare Information
- Initial bandange on until tomorrow morning.
- When you take the bandage off, you will see ink and goo on the bandage. This is normal.
- Wash the tattoo with soap, water, and your fingertips.
- Pat dry.
- Massage A&D Ointment or Aquaphor into the skin.
- Re-apply a bandage if directed by artist, otherwise leave open.
- Do this up to three to five days until the tattoo starts to flake.
- If you let the tattoo dry out, a scab will form, and when the scab lifts, it will pull color out with it.
- Once the tattoo flakes, the ointment isn't effective anymore so switch to a fragrance-free lotion.
- For the first two weeks avoid direct sunlight, salt water, and chlorinated water.
- For long term care, put sun block on the tattoo when you go into the sun.
- At first sign of infection, please consult a physician.
